Privacy

Pricedot has no accounts and asks for no email address, name or phone number. Here is everything it keeps, and for how long.

A Sale Book

  • What you type into it: the sale's name and date, the starting cash, shared costs, each family's label, letter and colour, and every sale (time, sticker prices, discount, how it was paid, cash handed over) and the cash count at close-out.
  • Its link is the only key. We store a SHA-256 fingerprint of the link, not the link itself, so we cannot look a book up for you if you lose it.
  • Anyone who has the link can open and change the book. Share it only with the people working your table.
  • You can delete a book at any time (Families and setup, at the bottom). A book nobody has opened for 120 days is deleted automatically.
  • Please do not type buyers' names or card details into family labels or the sale name: they are not needed and Pricedot has no field for them.

Sticker sheets and signs

Sticker sheets are made from the address bar (colour, letter, prices) and are not stored. A sign is made from a form and sent straight back to your browser for printing; the words and address on it are not stored.

Counters, logs and backups

  • To stop abuse, the site counts requests per day from each internet address. The address is kept only as a salted fingerprint, and the counters are deleted after 3 days.
  • The web server that hosts this site (run by WeldonPC.com) keeps standard access logs: internet address, time, the page address asked for (which for a Sale Book page includes its link) and browser name. They are used for security and running the server, and are deleted on the server's normal schedule.
  • The site's database is backed up every night; each copy is kept 14 days. WeldonPC.com also backs up the whole server. A deleted book can stay in those backups until they expire.

Cookies

Pages with a form set one cookie, used only to protect the form against cross-site requests. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and nothing is sold or shared.
